ChatGPT Plugins!
Great news everyone! ChatGPT has finally decided to add plugins. I know, I know, it’s about time, right? These lovely little tools have been designed with safety as a core principle, so you can rest easy knowing that your favorite AI buddy is looking out for you.
So, what’s the big deal with plugins? Well, they’re going to let ChatGPT access up-to-date information, run computations, or use third-party services. It’s almost like they’ve realized that we’ve been begging for this feature since the dawn of time (or at least since ChatGPT was launched).

Now, ChatGPT will be able to do some pretty nifty things, like retrieving real-time information on sports scores, stock prices, or the latest news. It can also fetch knowledge-base information, like company docs and personal notes, and even perform actions on our behalf, like booking a flight or ordering food. Can you imagine? A personal assistant that’s actually helpful!
Plugin developers are working hard to expose API endpoints, complete with standardized manifest files and OpenAPI specifications. All this fancy stuff is what allows ChatGPT to understand the plugin’s functionality and make calls to developer-defined APIs.
In simpler terms, our beloved AI model is now an intelligent API caller. When we ask it a question, like “Where should I stay in Paris for a couple nights?”, it can choose to call a hotel reservation plugin API, get the response, and then craft an answer just for us. It’s like having a genie in a bottle, but without the three-wish limit.
Of course, this is just the beginning. Over time, we can expect the system to evolve and accommodate even more advanced use cases. Who knows what the future holds for ChatGPT and its shiny new plugins? All I can say is, buckle up and get ready for a wild ride, because the AI-human interaction paradigm is about to get a major upgrade.
